#problem in finland

I'm gonna try to post more doll photos here on Tumblr.

These were taken in the "Ihmeellinen pieni maailma" miniature fair in Espoo, Finland in 2024. The art workshop diorama was created by Susanna, the Ken and Kaarna doll story creator.

The dolls Ken (orange dress), Kaarna (short blue-dyed hair, Mackie sculpt, orange shirt that says "Fuck The Universe", and Mari (the blonde who models for the live drawing) are characters from the Ken and Kaarna doll story.

There were a bunch of dolls from many different people visiting the diorama, it was very fun.

My dolls pictured here visiting the diorama: the guitar-playing Kit (Barbie Looks) with the skull top, the cyrvy Daya fashionista hybrid with the paint-splattered white coat, Becky (the wheelchair user), Trichelle MTM hybrid with the green and black crop top.

So ... the cat's out of the bag and my mom now knows that I am obsessed with a green, finnish guy (since we talked on the phone yesterday about my trip to Sweden and Germany).

She didn't need more than 5 minutes to look through my bs when I said I might go to Finland next year - she basically just corrected IF to WHEN on the spot x'D

Do you know what is like the most unusual hinderence about being a writer in a nordic country?

Your hands freezing and not being able to type.

I try to go on a walk everyday (because I have been trying to liove more heantly and lose weight since 2023 when I broe my foot), and it is cold here. Even if I had gloves, my finger are still super stiff.

Unpopular opinion about finnish music industry? 👀

I don't know if this is unpopular at all or just a Finland thing, but forcing artists into boxes based on what happens to be trendy at the moment. Like at one point we had only quirky solo female singer-songwriters singing stripped down pop ballads in Finnish and at one point it was all about rap, in Finnish of course. It's very hard to break through while keeping own style if it doesn't please Warner or Universal which I believe are the biggest record companies here, all non-trendy goes through smaller businesses (like BC being told that they have to change to singing in Finnish and stop rapping because nobody listens to nu-metal anymore and Käärijä being told that he should tone down his show and that he isn't a suitable artist for certain stages). What further complicates things is that the big record companies work together with certain media corporations, which means for example that all participants in a certain music show are from the same label, and the newpaper that writes about the show is also part of the same company (like most of the participants of Vain elämää being from Warner). it is also worth mentioning that on the paper UMK is an open competition for anyone to apply to, but for the last three years all contestants have been more or less established artists and we know the Yle approaches record labels to encourage big-ish names to participate.
